Vice President & Chief Investment Officer / Acting Vice President for Finance & Administration

Burt Sonenstein is responsible for assuring that the Foundation's financial resources serve its mission and programs. He oversees investments and the management of the Foundation’s endowment, and helps program staff to achieve success with their grant portfolios through efficient and effective financial systems and procedures. He is also responsible for the information technology, grants management, and facilities functions. Burt serves on the Board of Ways to Work and on the National Advisory Board of the Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Executive Program. Burt's many roles have included founder and CEO of United Insurance Management Company, president and CEO of United Educators Insurance, vice president of finance and administration at Wellesley College in Massachusetts, vice president and treasurer at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, and a practicing CPA and management consultant at KPMG Peat Marwick. Burt received a bachelor's degree in American studies from Amherst College in Massachusetts, and a master's degree in business administration at Harvard Business School, with a concentration in management of non-profit organizations.
