Rebuilding Communities Initiative
The initiative, launched in 1994, invested more than $20 million in neighborhoods in Boston, Denver, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., to demonstrate how a resident-led effort combining system reform and community building could help transform troubled urban neighborhoods into safe, supportive, and productive environments. A lead organization in each site worked with residents to set an agenda
for their neighborhood and pursue the wide-ranging strategies needed to advance it.
