Many of our nation’s most vulnerable children and families do not have access to good, affordable health care and health services. This is especially true for those within racially and ethnically minority neighborhoods. As a result, these neighborhoods often have high rates of diseases including tuberculosis, HIV, sexually transmitted diseases, depression, asthma, obesity and diabetes, and low rates of childhood immunization.
The Casey Foundation believes that these conditions can be fixed, improving all families’ health and their ability to contribute in the worlds of school, work, and the community.
