The Children in North America Project aims to highlight the conditions and well-being of children and youth in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Through a series of indicator reports, the project hopes to build a better understanding of how our children are faring and the opportunities and challenges they face as they look to the future. Growing Up in North America: The Economic Well-Being of Children in Canada, the United States, and Mexico (English)

The third in a series of reports, this document concludes that globalization has contributed to rising incomes in Canada, the United States, and Mexico but has not improved economic security for vulnerable children across the three countries. The data-rich report finds tremendous differences in the economic well-being of the 120 million children living in North America, but also many shared experiences. Casey published this report as a partner in the Children in North America Project, a tri-national project that aims to highlight the condition and well-being of children and youth across this region. Growing Up in North America: Child Health and Safety in Canada, the United States, and Mexico

The second in a set of reports concludes that Canada, the United States, and Mexico all have far to go in ensuring children have the best chance at health, eduction, and safety. Findings include that for all three countries, rates of obesity among young people are too high; respiratory illness is epidemic in portions of the continent; exposure to lead and other chemicals continues to be alarming; and unintentional injuries, many preventable, are the leading cause of death for children and youth. The negative trajectory for children in these countries highlights the importance of working across national boundaries to improve the lives of children in North America. more >>
