Casey has extensive partnerships and investments in cities that we call our Civic Sites, where the Foundation has close hometown ties:

  • Atlanta, Georgia -- UPS headquarters
  • Baltimore, Maryland -- the Annie E. Casey Foundation headquarters
  • New Haven, Connecticut -- Casey Family Services headquarters

Our extensive grantmaking efforts in each of these cities is not connected to specific initiatives, but remains responsive to local opportunities for well-defined, neighborhood-based, family-strengthening work. We anticipate maintaining a significant, sustained philanthropic role in these cities for years to come.

In addition, we maintain a special interest in the District of Columbia, where we have strong ties to their child welfare and juvenile justice agencies, leadership, and philanthropic base. By working closely with these partners we are continuing to support efforts to improve the well-being of low-income families in three neighborhoods in Ward 7, east of the Anacostia River.

For example, we are providing support to projects such as the Washington Interfaith Network's community organizing work aimed at improving family economic success in that community; a financial literacy and savings program; and the Marshall Heights Community Development Organization's IDA program and Homebuyer's Club. We are also funding a DC data warehouse project that provides local data and baseline measures to help residents and community leaders monitor how well their programs are working and track results-based accountability.
