About the Authors
Many people have participated in the development of this tool. What follows is a list of the main contributors.
Jill Kinney, Ph.D., is executive director of Home, Safe, a private Seattle, WA, nonprofit corporation begun in 1992 to develop and implement innovative approaches to helping families throughout the United States. For the last five years, Kinney's work has focused on development of professional and natural helper partnerships, worker resiliency techniques and options for helping people with drug problems if they refuse drug treatment or the 12-step model.
Margaret Trent, Daniele Price, Robert Smith and Edith Johnson are members of "People Helping People," a natural helper / professional partnership developed in Tacoma, WA. They have spent many years helping people in their communities, from working during crises to delivering day-to-day support.
Also contributing to the development of this tool were Janice Nittoli, Senior Associate for the Annie E. Casey Foundation; and Kathy Strand, program associate for Home, Safe, one of the professionals involved with "People Helping People."
