New Report Advises States to Incorporate JDAI in Federal Plans The Coalition for Juvenile Justice (CJJ) recently released a “Best Practices” bulletin, “Supporting Juvenile Detention Reform in Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) Three-Year Plans.” It shows how New Jersey, New Mexico, Virginia and Washington successfully addressed JJDPA core requirements and strengthened their juvenile justice systems by writing JDAI into their federal plans. The publication presents states with strategic opportunities for expanding detention reform under the JJDPA, which is up for reauthorization in 2009.CJJ is launching a detention reform listserv to encourage dialogue among state planners and other juvenile justice professionals in advancing this work. To obtain a copy of the bulletin or to subscribe to the listserv, contact CJJ at info@juvjustice.org or visit www.juvjustice.org.
