Reed Appointed Indianapolis Superintendent
DeShane Reed is the new superintendent of the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center. He left his position as assistant superintendent of the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center in Springfield, Mo., to take the Indianapolis job.
In his move from a small rural facility to the large urban detention center, Reed brings extensive JDAI experience with him. In Greene County, he developed an evening reporting center, a model JDAI alternative program. Reed also recently completed JDAI’s Applied Leadership Network, a training program designed to strengthen JDAI leaders.
"Mr. Reed has the needed skill set of administrative and hands-on experience that will sustain and enhance the reforms we’ve diligently worked on these past few years," Marion County Superior Court Judge Tanya Walton Pratt said.
Reed’s personal story of overcoming obstacles, coupled with his experience working with at-risk teens, detention center management and JDAI, uniquely positions him to lead the center forward," Pratt said.
