The Annie E. Casey Foundation Presents KIDS COUNT 2005 at National Conference of State Legislatures Annual Meeting
Leading child-advocacy foundation to brief legislators on approaches to help families succeed; state legislative data resource on child well-being to be launched
State legislators and their staffers will have the opportunity to hear about resources and data that can help improve decision-making on achieving successful futures for America’s kids and families when representatives from the Annie E. Casey Foundation present KIDS COUNT 2005 at the annual meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures, August 16-19 in Seattle, Washington. Foundation President Douglas W. Nelson will brief legislators on innovative public and private approaches that are helping vulnerable families overcome barriers to work and achieve economic success. In addition, the first online database featuring child well-being indicators in all 7,000 state legislative districts will be presented by Dr. William O’Hare, Casey’s KIDS COUNT Coordinator.
Interactive demonstrations on how to use the new resource will be held at the Foundation’s booth in the exhibit hall of the Washington Convention Center. Visitors can create reports and rankings of the economic, education, employment, and health status of children and families in their districts.
