LISA M. HAMILTON NAMED
VICE PRESIDENT, EXECUTIVE FELLOW BY THE ANNIE E. CASEY FOUNDATION
BALTIMORE, Md. — The Annie E. Casey Foundation, the nation’s largest foundation dedicated to enhancing the lives of the country’s most disadvantaged children and families, announced today that Lisa M. Hamilton has been appointed a vice president to lead its public affairs, strategic communications, policy reform and advocacy work, as well as assist in neighborhood development work in Atlanta communities. Hamilton, currently the vice president of the UPS Corporate Public Relations Group in Atlanta, Ga., will also be a member of the Casey Foundation’s Senior Leadership team.
“We are delighted that Lisa Hamilton has agreed to join us and bring her strategic vision to our communications, policy reform and advocacy work,” said Patrick T. McCarthy, president and CEO of the Casey Foundation. “Lisa’s experiences at UPS provide her a deep understanding of our founder Jim Casey’s vision of improving the lives of vulnerable children and families. Lisa is in the enviable position of truly experiencing Jim Casey’s legacy in two separate but uniquely similar ways – both his corporate and philanthropic contribution – and this is a vantage point we hope to capitalize on in the years ahead.”
“Hamilton is an outstanding addition to the Senior Leadership Team at Casey,” said McCarthy. “I have known Lisa for years and her values and strategic thinking make her a perfect fit for her new responsibilities. As a Foundation trustee, she has proven that she has the personal and professional skills to help guide Casey in its mission and future work.”
Prior to her appointment as vice president of the UPS Corporate Public Relations Group in February 2009, Hamilton was president of the UPS Foundation, where she was responsible for its global philanthropic programs. She began her career at UPS in 1996 as a member of the Corporate Tax Department. In 2003, she was promoted to program manager of the UPS Foundation, and later served as a public affairs manager in Washington, D.C., where she focused on tax healthcare, financial services, and legal reform issues. Hamilton was appointed to the Casey Foundation’s Board of Trustees in October 2008.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Hamilton earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Virginia and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Michigan. Hamilton’s additional responsibilities at the Casey Foundation will be her deployment into key areas of the Foundation’s work, beginning with her involvement with the Atlanta Civic Site.
“I am greatly honored to take on this new challenge,” said Hamilton. “This is a wonderful opportunity to continue and build on Casey’s strategic relationships with its valuable partners, grantees, and decision makers.”
Hamilton will join the Annie E. Casey Foundation on March 7, 2011.
