McCarthy Endorses Community Efforts to Support Youth in Transition

Annie E. Casey Foundation President and CEO Patrick T. McCarthy was the featured speaker for mrore than 900 community leaders, volunteers, governmental officials and members of the philanthropic community at the annual luncheon of the Winston-Salem Foundation in North Carolina.

His remarks echoed the theme of the luncheon, "Celebrate the Power and the Promise of Community Leadership," and he addressed the critical need for support for the new Youth in Transition Community Initiative of Forsyth County. The effort is a comprehensive community plan to improve the outcomes for foster youth aging out of care. The Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative has provided strong support for this effort and Goodwill Industries of Northwest Carolina will become the program's lead agency.
