The Honorable Jimmie Edwards, who for a number of years led Casey’s Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative reform in the city of St. Louis, Mo., has been selected to receive the 2013 William H. Rehnquist Award for Judicial Excellence from the National Center for State Courts. Edwards is the first Missouri judge to receive the Rehnquist Award, one of the nation’s highest judicial honors. The award will be presented by Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts during a ceremony at the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 21. Presented annually, the prestigious award honors state court judges who are taking bold steps to address issues in their communities, and who demonstrate outstanding qualities of judicial excellence.
