Self-evaluation is necessary to measure progress toward improving systems and outcomes for young people. Learn about our research and evaluation methods, including the Foundation’s partnership with Child Trends, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research center that provides valuable information and insights on the well-being of children and youth. Other research contributors include the National Youth Transition Database and Chapin Hall.
National Youth Transition Database
Based on results from the National Youth Transition Database survey, which states are required to administer to cohorts at ages 17, 19 and 21 to measure the outcomes of youth transitioning out of foster care.
Chapin Hall
Chapin Hall’s body of research explores outcomes for foster youth, including outcomes in education, housing and economic independence.
Child Trends
Child Trends conducts research, identifies and promotes research and data-driven interventions for transition-aged youth and provides program evaluation and technical assistance in the broader child welfare field.
