Director, Grants Management
As director of Grants Management, Satonya Fair oversees the administration of more than $100 million in grants annually and assists Foundation leadership with annual budget development and management. She led the development of the Foundation’s customized grants management system, including an online grant portal. Her work focuses on operational innovations, with an emphasis on using data to drive decision making and accountability. Fair leads grant policies and practice workgroups and serves on the Foundation's Committee of Managers, Social Investments Committee and budget development team.
Before joining Casey, Fair served as senior grants manager at Citi, managing the North America Community Grants Program. In her role, she was part of a team that streamlined grant making for Citi Global Community Development, which funded 400 nonprofits annually. She developed funding parameters, applications, evaluation methods and best practices and provided funding recommendations to the Citi Foundation. Before that, Fair managed CitiFinancial’s U.S. Local Contribution Program, where she redeveloped community relations and volunteer engagement to include branch network offices.
Prior to joining Citi, Fair was the community relations manager at The Baltimore Sun, managing the Baltimore Sun Corporate Giving Fund, Reading by 9 Fund and the Spirit of Sharing reader engagement campaign.
Fair earned her law degree from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor's degree in psychology and political science from Miami University in Ohio. She completed the Council on Foundation’s Career Pathways executive leadership program in April 2013. She is a mentor with the St. Paul Bridges program and supports many nonprofit efforts in the Baltimore community. She serves as board co-chair for PEAK Grantmaking and as a board member for the Association of Baltimore Area Grantmakers.
