Tarsha Jackson Receives Bimel Award for her Contributions to Detention Reform

Parent-turned-advocate Tarsha Jackson received the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Natalie S. Bimel Award for her efforts to ensure the inclusion of families in detention reform efforts. Jackson, the coordinator of Texas Families of Incarcerated Youth, received the honor in Houston during JDAI’s 2012 Intersite Conference in April.

Latest Results Report Show Significant Site Progress

Each year, JDAI sites send results reports to the Casey Foundation informing them of the progress and impact of detention reform in their jurisdictions. These results have shown that sites have continued to achieve significant reductions in the use detention while improving public safety and sending fewer youth to state facilities.
