Summary

Beginning in the 1960s, America's nonprofit organizations grew dramatically for 40 years. Between 1977 and 1997, the number of charitable organizations doubled. Today, the generation responsible for the front end of this civic growth are facing transitions into new roles or considering retirement.

This report shares developments in Executive Transition Management (ETM) and provides founders, their board leaders and supporters specific options for planning and managing a transition, whether it is happening now or in 10 years.
