McCarthy Endorses Community Efforts to Support Youth in Transition

Annie E. Casey Foun­da­tion Pres­i­dent and CEO Patrick T. McCarthy was the fea­tured speak­er for mrore than 900 com­mu­ni­ty lead­ers, vol­un­teers, gov­ern­men­tal offi­cials and mem­bers of the phil­an­thropic com­mu­ni­ty at the annu­al lun­cheon of the Win­ston-Salem Foun­da­tion in North Carolina.

His remarks echoed the theme of the lun­cheon, Cel­e­brate the Pow­er and the Promise of Com­mu­ni­ty Lead­er­ship,” and he addressed the crit­i­cal need for sup­port for the new Youth in Tran­si­tion Com­mu­ni­ty Ini­tia­tive of Forsyth Coun­ty. The effort is a com­pre­hen­sive com­mu­ni­ty plan to improve the out­comes for fos­ter youth aging out of care. The Jim Casey Youth Oppor­tu­ni­ties Ini­tia­tive has pro­vid­ed strong sup­port for this effort and Good­will Indus­tries of North­west Car­oli­na will become the pro­gram’s lead agency.
