The Annie E. Casey Foundation recently hosted a webinar exploring new research on how nonprofits are putting shared leadership models into practice — and what these models mean for healthier, more collaborative organizations. The discussion drew on findings from Shared Leadership in Action, a new report conducted by Brazen Consulting and Accounting with participation from Baltimore nonprofit leaders.

Partners from Brazen Consulting and Baltimore organizations shared lessons from the research and discussed the promise of shared leadership in the nonprofit sector and beyond. Shared leadership emphasizes collective ownership, diverse voices and equitable distribution of work — approaches that can strengthen collaboration and reduce burnout.

More and more nonprofits are discovering that shared leadership can ease burnout, deepen collaboration and create space for healthier organizations,” said Amir François, a senior research associate at Casey who moderated the discussion. This webinar highlighted the experiences of Baltimore leaders who are putting these models into practice and reshaping what leadership can look like.”

Webinar attendees:

  • Gained insights into the benefits of shared leadership across organizations and communities.
  • Learned about the essential skills needed for shared leadership.
  • Discovered the key strategies of shared leadership.
  • Delved into the shared leadership ecosystem and the diverse experiences of organizations that have used it.

This discussion offers valuable insights for anyone applying or considering shared leadership models. Watch the recording of the webinar below.
