The Annie E. Casey Foundation hosted a webinar, Motivational Interviewing: Leveraging Technology and Youth Voices to Train Staff, on Oct. 5, 2023. The webinar discussed training staff to use motivational interviewing to more effectively engage with the young people they serve.

Motivational Interviewing is part of the Casey Foundation’s Leading With Evidence series, promoting effective and equitable evidence-based approaches in a variety of settings.

The webinar is an opportunity for nonprofit and public system professionals to learn about a new training innovation the Foundation helped support. A trove of youth interviews help practitioners in the effective use of motivational interviewing, a practice that employs communication techniques designed to engage young people and adults. The process has been shown to help youth gain a greater sense of self-worth and awareness as they develop into thriving young adults.

Panelists will discuss why and how they are using this technology to train staff.
