
Associate Director, Center for Economic Opportunity
Jeffrey Poirier, Ph.D., is an associate director at the Center for Economic Opportunity, where he supports efforts to develop, advance and learn and communicate about strategies, investments and lessons focused on promoting educational and economic opportunity for young people and families.
Poirier was a senior associate on the Foundation’s Research and Evaluation team from 2016 through February 2023. In that role, he led equity-focused research and evaluation investments and helped shape the Foundation’s learning practices. His work has addressed issues such as adolescent development, child welfare, education, employment, financial stability, homelessness, juvenile justice, mental health and youth engagement.
Prior to joining Casey, Poirier worked as a researcher at the American Institutes for Research for more than 15 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s in education policy and a doctorate in public policy and administration from The George Washington University.
