
Katrina Mitchell is the director of the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Atlanta Civic Site. A respected leader with more than 25 years of experience, she has worked in the nonprofit, philanthropic and public sectors to advance community-based solutions that improve outcomes for children and families.
Before joining the Foundation, Mitchell served as chief community impact officer at United Way of Greater Atlanta. In that role, she led a grant-making strategy focused on improving child well-being and addressing the systemic barriers that limit opportunity and economic mobility in the region.
Mitchell's expertise lies in developing a legacy that inspires leaders to pursue collective action and achieve meaningful change on behalf of children and families in the Global South and beyond. She serves as co-chair for Grantmakers for Southern Progress and is a board member of Grantmakers for Education and Westside Atlanta Charter School. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
A member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2023, Mitchell is a recipient of the Rockwood Leadership Institute's Equity in Philanthropy Fellowship, the Association of Black Foundation Executives’ Connecting Leaders Fellowship, United Way of Greater Atlanta Women United’s 2025 Toast to Her award and the 2024 Black Women Give Back award.
Mitchell earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Wellesley College and spent a year as an exchange student at Spelman College. She holds a master’s in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
