At the time of this report over 500,000 kids in America lived in foster care - that means court ordered to live with someone other than their immediate family. Most of these kids will return to their family or be adopted. But if no one steps up by the time they turn 18, they are kicked out and on their own. This brief shows readers how hard it is for these kids to survive as an at-risk adult without a support system. It provides steps to decrease the number of kids falling in this category and increase support for those that do.
