Application Call: Join Casey’s Juvenile Justice Applied Leadership Network

The Annie E. Casey Foun­da­tion is accept­ing appli­ca­tions — now through Sep­tem­ber 4, 2026 — for teams to join its Juve­nile Jus­tice Applied Lead­er­ship Net­work (ALN).

About ALN

ALN is root­ed in Casey’s Results Count^® lead­er­ship devel­op­ment approach. ALN pro­vides spe­cial­ized coach­ing, expe­ri­en­tial learn­ing and train­ing to help lead­ers devel­op the skills and strate­gies need­ed to achieve mea­sur­able, equi­table and trans­for­ma­tive results for young peo­ple fac­ing sig­nif­i­cant bar­ri­ers to success.

Today’s ALN alum­ni base spans 76 lead­ers in 24 states and Puer­to Rico. ALN alum­ni con­tin­ue to have access to peer sup­port and a col­lab­o­ra­tive learn­ing net­work that helps them apply a results-dri­ven frame­work with­in their home organizations.

Who Can Apply?

ALN appli­cants should apply as a team that includes juve­nile jus­tice sys­tem lead­ers, com­mu­ni­ty lead­ers, indi­vid­u­als affect­ed by the jus­tice sys­tem and oth­ers who are work­ing to improve out­comes for young peo­ple at risk of, or already involved in, the legal sys­tem. Teams can apply regard­less of their jurisdiction’s con­nec­tion to the Casey’s Juve­nile Deten­tion Alter­na­tives Ini­tia­tive^® or pro­ba­tion trans­for­ma­tion site work. The appli­ca­tion win­dow for Class 6 clos­es at 5 p.m. ET on Fri­day, Sept. 4, 2026.

What to Expect

The program’s sixth ses­sion, Class 6, runs from Feb­ru­ary 2027 to April 2028. Dur­ing the 14-month pro­gram, par­tic­i­pants will iden­ti­fy the changes they want to achieve in their com­mu­ni­ty and juve­nile jus­tice sys­tem. Work­ing togeth­er, teams will devel­op, imple­ment, refine and mea­sure strate­gies to achieve mean­ing­ful, last­ing change.

With Class 6, Casey is par­tic­u­lar­ly inter­est­ed in sup­port­ing com­mu­ni­ty-based approach­es that improve out­comes for young Black men and young Lati­no men. These efforts may focus on pre­vent­ing encoun­ters with law enforce­ment, divert­ing young peo­ple from the legal sys­tem, or advanc­ing oth­er strate­gies that reduce sys­tem involve­ment and expand oppor­tu­ni­ties for youth at risk.
